Gratitude for Gamers is a program that I am starting to help spread positivity within Tactical Gaming. I have found it very easy to focus on the negative things in life, especially recently when that is almost all that I ever hear about... but I know that I should be focusing on the positives! (Much easier said than done though...) After talking with a few members, I quickly realized- I'm not alone! I decided that I wanted to develop a program that could bring joy to our TG members...

The first thing that popped into my mind for spreading joy was to encourage more members to get together outside of practices. Personally, practices often serve as an escape for me; I go to practice and forget about what is going on in my world as I become focused on the game! Practices are often full of great comms and laughs, but two hours twice a week didn't feel like enough for me. So along with my division staff, we have developed many different events that are offered for our members to participate in. My experience from the events that I have attended, these really do bring a lot of joy to my day (unless you steal all of my poker chips... there are a few of you, but I won't throw you under the bus publicly)! However, I know with the different schedules and gaming preferences that people have, not everyone is able to experience the positivity that these events bring. So, I have been trying to think how could we bring joy to everyone on even a larger scale... then it dawned it on me to create the Gratitude for Gamers program!

Gratitude for Gamers is a simple Google Form that you can fill out to give ANYONE in TG a compliment! You can compliment people for basically anything. A few ideas are: positive attitude, improving at the game, helping someone, going above and beyond their normal duties, just being a good friend, etc. These will then be shared with the member. They might be shared on the site, in discords, in a news article, on social media, etc. The goal is to be able to brighten someone's day, week, month, or even their year! Compliments have such great power, that we never really know the effect that they had on a person, but we do not that it is a positive one!

"I can live for two months on a good compliment."- Mark Twain

So please, help me spread some positivity all over Tactical Gaming! If you have any questions about this program, please feel free to contact me directly.

CoD Vanguard is expected to be released on November 5th. After many bugs and headaches from CoD Black Ops Cold War, many of our members cannot wait for a new title! CoD Vanguard is set in the WWII era where you will become a Special Forces Operator. At launch there is supposed to be twenty maps available compared to when Cold War was released with only eight. In terms of the different game modes, there will be the same game types that we have seen in Cold War.

Recently, PlayStation gamers were able to participate in the CoD Vanguard Alpha release. I spoke with some of them to see what they thought of this first look at the game.

Squared: Now that you have had some time to play the new title, what is your impression of the game so far?
@enemy__17: I have a pretty good impression of this game, but it does need a few tweaks.
@Cane: First impression is the maps looks well skinned and visibility is great just when taking damage your screen darkens making visibility hard.
@LordOli: I think the game has great potential. Gun play is definitely interesting and I like the movement which is just like Modern Warfare 2019.
@Aizus: Alright, although the mechanics felt weird after playing Cold War for the last year.

Squared:  I'm excited to hear that overall your impression is a positive one! Hopefully, after the Beta released your impressions will be even better! I know there are a lot of complaints about Cold War due to different bugs and issues with the game.  Have you experienced any problems with the game so far that you hope are fixed before the game is released in November?
@enemy__17: I can hear my teammates footsteps, but not my enemies. Too much irrelevant noises push through during the battle. Current Champion Hill maps are kind of campy, and easy spawn kills happen a lot. Personally I don't like the gunfire sound effect also.
@Cane: No real bugs just Champion of the Hill is sorta camperish.
@LordOli: Lots of sound and visibility issues mostly. It is very difficult to hear footsteps and when you hear gunshots, they are way louder than anything else which makes it very hard to play. As for visibility, when you get damaged it is very very hard to see anything.
@Aizus: Broken spawn system

Squared: I hope they fix the sounds and visibility problems; those seem to be pretty major hinderances for gameplay. Over the last eighteen years CoD has released numerous games, how do you feel that CoD Vanguard compares to other CoD titles that you have played?
@enemy__17: Vanguard compares mostly to WW2 imo with movement, but it looks more like MW19 which I like.
@Cane: It’s movement is similar to MW2019, but guns and recoil similar to WWII.
@LordOli: It feels and looks exactly like Modern Warfare 2019 but with a WW2 touch.
@Aizus: I can't give a definitive answer until I've played S&D.

Squared: Sounds like you all agree that it is most like Modern Warfare 2019 and WWII! I know the Alpha was only a limited release, but what has been your favorite part of the game thus far?
@enemy__17: The BAR 😍
@Cane: Favorite part of alpha was just being able to test the game out and enjoy something different.
@LordOli: My favourite part has been to actually feel the same mechanics of MW, and the gunplay was actually really fun. I think moving around and gunning people down with the STG was really enjoyable.
@Aizus: Getting a feel for Vanguard and what's to come with the next installment.

Squared: Glad to hear you guys just enjoyed playing the game overall and being able to use the different guns. Last question, on a scale of 1-10 how would you rate CoD Vanguard so far? 1 being you hated it, and 10 being it was the best game ever!
@enemy__17: 6 right now, but I'm waiting on the full release to give a final rating.
@Cane: I’d give it a solid 7, but it can improve.
@LordOli: As it is in the Alpha state, I would give it a 5/10 because of the bugs and issues, but I’m sure that with improvements it can easily get to 8/10.
@Aizus: About a 7. I don't see Champion Hill being a popular game mode.

Here is a short clip from @LordOli playing CoD Vanguard:
20210903142625_1_2 (1).mp4
Thank you @enemy__17, @Cane, @LordOli, and @Aizus for taking the time to give your feedback on the game!

Well there you have it! Overall pretty positive review of the new CoD Vanguard. Over the next few weeks, we should see the beta release after which we will check back in to see how much has changed, and what the overall opinion of the game is. If you'd like to receive early access the open beta release go here to pre-order your copy of the game!

These medals are to demonstrate my gratitude and express my commendation of ArmedHyde's dedicated devotion to duty and service to the community. He has served consecutively for a year as a Division Officer and Legion Officer of Destiny. He was faced with the unique opportunity of transitioning his entire Division from a Tactical Warfare Franchise to the Tactical Adventures Franchise. It cannot be stated enough that his leadership was absolutely key in the communication of this movement, and helping handle the administration challenges that came from such an endeavor. Furthermore, his constant presence has ensured a distinguished continuity which trickles down to the staff that serve alongside him as well, inspiring a sense of longevity to their roles. His devotion to the game is apparent, and his service to the members is commendable. Please join me by thanking ArmedHyde for his constant presence and valuable leadership.

This medal is enthusiastically awarded to Paprika for her diligence and dedication to Tactical Gaming, and her willingness to lead. Over the weekend, I observed, and got to participate, a trio of Raids for Destiny that ran back to back to back. Paprika was kind enough, and patient enough, to explain every phase and mechanic to ensure the team could progress through without any trouble. We completed all three raids successfully, and I wanted to spotlight her leadership which made it possible. I also extend my thanks to the other members of our team, who stayed on to get after it. Semper Fi, Paprika and keep on leading from the front.

Welcome to the September edition of the 1st Corps Monthly Newsletter! This newsletter provides a way for you to know what is going on in your corps, milestones people have hit, upcoming events, and more! If there is anything that you'd like to see in the next edition, please let me know!

If I had to summarize what was happening in 1st Corps currently the first word that comes to mind is "change". There were so many changes in the month of August in 1st Corps, and I believe they are going to have a positive impact on our community!

One of the biggest changes happened very late in the month when the decision to close 2nd Corps was made. For 1st Corps, this meant that Apex, Battlefield, and the Vanguard Divisions moved to us (this means all TW titles are currently in 1st Corps). This was done due to the sizes of several games; overtime some of our older titles have gotten smaller while they await a new title. We see this often, especially since there are so many game choices for people nowadays! I want to personally thank @MissVendettaXO for all of her hard work in 2nd Corps and for her promotion to PRH. I am very excited to see what she does with the PRO, and how she can help them to grow and be successful! I'm also looking forward to see how I can continue what she started with her 3 divisions! Apex, Battlefield, and Vanguard- I hope you guys enjoy your time in 1st Corps! If you (or anyone in TG) have any suggestions, please feel free to make them here. We love to hear your thoughts on how we can improve things for you!

Not only did 1st Corps grow in the number of games that we have, but we have had a lot of staffing changes inside of our divisions! Across the entire corps there were 4 Division Staff promotions, 7 Battalion Staff promotions, and 21 Squad Staff Promotions! With all of these new leaders, I'm excited to see where they take their squads, battalions, and divisions with the guidance of those who have been in position and know the ropes! I think both new and experienced staff can learn a lot from one another.

In addition to roster changes, there are two new things coming to 1st Corps! The first being our TW Wide Recruiting Contest! This will last until either the end of the year or we have 300 new members in TW (they must complete boot camp and attend a practice to count). Total prize pool consists of $260 USD along with other TG merchandise! More details on the contest including how to enter, prize information, and more can be found here!

A new program we are bringing with a focus on 1st Corps, but feedback will be shared with TA is "Gratitude for Gamers". In the world, we see a lot of negative things going on, but I want to help us focus on the positive! "Gratitude for Gamers" is where you can submit a statement of recognition for a fellow TG Member. That recognition is then sent anonymously (unless you want to include your TG name) to the person! This is a great way to help spread some cheer in our community and to focus on some positive things! More information about the "Gratitude for Gamers" can be found here!

Personally, I'm excited to see where September takes us!

Update Notice for Staff Manuals concerning Competition

The Tactical Gaming Executive Committee (TGEC) has updated the staff manuals for Squad/Section, Battalion/Cohort, and Division/Legion Staff to incorporate new guidance regarding competitions. This guidance empowers Squad/Section staff to charge forward and seek out competition on their own accord. It also reminds our Squads/Sections of their responsibility to uphold our branding standards when competing. We encourage our Squads/Sections to keep their Division/Legion staff informed about their competition status, but we also recognize that competing should not be bogged down by paperwork or any sort of bureaucratic policy. In short, if your team wants to compete, then get out there and crush some skulls!

Tactical Gaming has a rich history of competing in a number of brackets. Many teams have gone so far as to win cash prizes! We want to ensure that the path forward remains unchallenged, and that the power to compete rests with our Squads/Sections. So we encourage you to seek out competitions and continue to put Tactical Gaming's name out there! Additionally, if you have questions or concerns, just ask your leadership.

We will see you all on the battlefield!

Give Every Challenge Your Best Shot!

To our awesome Tactical Warfare members, especially those in my beloved 2nd Corps:

I want to start off with the most important part, to me at least... I want to thank the incredible staff and members of 2nd Corps for consistently making TG such a wonderful place to be. I could not be more proud of everything that you put forth every day. Please just know that you are deeply appreciated by me.

Unfortunately, my time as 2nd Corps Commander is at a close due to the decision to combine the TW Corps for now. It's been an absolute honor in this short time to be your leader, your cheerleader and your comrade. The divisions that comprise 2nd Corps are near and dear to my heart for different reasons. I transferred to APEX when the game originally launched where I was the PS4 BGC and then DO until I moved to TW Head Trainer. Battlefield is a division I worked with on many projects including ATCs and they have some of the greatest quality in terms of leadership that I've ever seen in TG. Finally, Vanguard which I consider my baby has grown up so quickly thanks to the incredible dedication of its staff and members. I am so excited to see the growth continue in the future.

While this road was a bit short, I appreciate everyone putting up with me while I worked with you to keep 2nd Corps strong. Thank you to everyone I've had the pleasure of meeting/gaming with... especially my dear friends... Don't be strangers!

My TG journey is going to take me down a new road next but 2nd Corps will always be my home and I have no doubt I will come home someday.

I'd like to leave you with a quote from my favorite books: “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us” - The Fellowship of the Ring

Thank you and I'll see you soon,
Miss V

Who's Who ?

Welcome to the first episode of this new series, Who's Who?

In this series, I get the honor of interviewing members throughout the different Divisions and Legions of Tactical Gaming. This is a monthly series, published towards the end of the month. This interview will focus on the members views and feelings on gaming.

Today, i have the great pleasure of interviewing a friend and former boss, Master CC84.

TG SmokeyB: First of all, can you tell us a little about yourself? (Such as where you live, hobbies & interests etc..)

Master CC84: I'm a southern lad (Watford, UK) born and bred .
Aside from gaming I spend a lot of time on the ice playing ice hockey or free skating. I'm married and have two boys so a lot of my time is spent doing awesome stuff with the family. I am lucky enough to have a son who shares my passion for ice hockey and another that is football mad! We also recently added an addition of a super crazy puppy to our family called Leo who is a staffy cross and full of beans but so much fun! Oh and I'm a keen Carp fisherman...

TG SmokeyB: Can you remember the first game you played & what console you played it on?

Master CC84: Going back many many years (approx. 20 years), I was hooked on a strategy game called Gangsters: Organized Crime. Back then there wasn't much of an online presence for games but Gangsters allowed for 4 people to join a lobby and I spent many hours as a young lad battling to be the best at it. The classics are the best 😉.

TG SmokeyB: What was it that hooked you into gaming as you got older?

Master CC84: I've never really lost the love of gaming, for me it's about meeting lots of people from different backgrounds etc. It helps that my kids have a love for gaming so I get to share the passion. My eldest is quite a dab hand at my current game (COD) so who knows maybe in a few years we might see him join the battalion with old man.

TG SmokeyB: Can you describe the feelings you get from playing a satisfying game? (Such as enjoyment, happiness, escapism etc..)

Master CC84: It really is the sense of zoning out and the fun that it provides. We all live fast paced lives so it's good to be able to let go and be who ever you want to be and being part of a community such as TG was a great help for me during lockdown last year, I've made some great friends here (some of which I genuinely consider closer than some friends outside the gaming world) everyone is there for each other and no matter how down you might feel there's always someone to make you smile and get you in the mood. We have hosted some great nights over the last 12 months and it's something I always strive to do since being BTN staff. Staying in on a Friday is the new "Out out".

TG SmokeyB: In your own words, can you tell us what is your biggest weakness & strengths when gaming?

Master CC84: I beat myself up far to often for not doing as well as I feel I should although I probably do considerably well most of the time. My strength is my ability and passion to help people. I genuinely thrive on helping people through issues whether it is game or real life issues. I often have many of our members knocking on my door for advice and I'll always make myself available.
One saying that I live by as BTN (as does our glorious CO @TG Badmoon) - he'd be upset if I didn't mention him 😂 is that the members are not here to serve us, we are here to serve them.

TG SmokeyB: A couple of hard questions now, can you tell us the worst game you've played?

Master CC84: PUBG - it just doesn't do it for me, I've never been a fan of battle royal games (excluding Warzone) I much prefer a respawn.

TG SmokeyB: Can you tell us about the best game you've played?

Master CC84: Despite the feeling around it, I genuinely love the current COD release: Cold War. Agreeably it is still broken in parts but I've really enjoyed it. I was also hugely into Red Dead Redemption and the GTA series. Always loved the free roam aspect of plant to explore and do. And finally Eve Online, that was a big part of me some years ago, travelling through space finding ways to make in game money to build bigger and better ships.

TG SmokeyB: What is your favorite type of game? (Such as FPS, adventure, simulation, role playing games etc..)

Master CC84: I mainly play and have an interest around FPS and in particular anything war related. It gives more of a sense of realism compared to hoping around a fantasy world on unicorns with Ray guns 🤣. That said I do enjoy the odd racing game too.

TG SmokeyB: Have you ever played competitively?

Master CC84: I played Gangsters Organized crime on a competitive ladder for about 6 months which was great fun. When I started there were about 100 players active and I managed to work my way to 1st which for me back then was a great achievement. But other than that the competitive scene doesn't interest me much. I class myself as a casual player.

TG SmokeyB: And just for fun.. You are stuck on a tropical desert island for one month, what 5 items would you take?

Master CC84: A baseball cap (I collect them), my phone (so I can stay tuned on all things TG), salt and vinegar chip sticks crisps (because why wouldn't you), a fishing rod and a picture of Smokey boy to remind me to keep going 😉.

Thank you to @Master CC84 for taking part in this interview. I don't think you'll get a phone signal on the desert island, but the photo of me should do you for all your needs, lol.

Stay tuned to the next episode of Who's Who? in another month!
